Rwanda

At Immanuel we really value our close relationship with our brothers and sisters in Rwanda. Most years a team goes out and visits our sister village of Bugarama, and each year we are amazed by the incredible welcome we recieve. It is so humbling to meet people who have lived through such attrocities and poverty and yet who are so much more grateful for what theyhave than we are. We have much to learn from them!!
A few ways we return the favor for all they do for us is to support them as they look to develop sustainable enterprises.
The most simple way we support them is by drinking the coffee they produce. All coffee served at Immanuel is produced in Rwanda, see the Land of a Thousand Hills website for more info. If you would like to order some Rwandan coffee for your own personal use at home then please contact us, all proceeds will go to support further work in Rwnada.
Another way that we support our friends is by sending them pigs! Alright we don't actually buy the pigs and send them, but we raise money to buy them over there. The pigs are not used for their meat but as a source of manure. The land in Bugerama is low in fertility and therefore crop production is difficult, but the pig's manure makes a huge difference. In 2011 we raised enough money to buy over 50 pigs and we will be buying more in the future. If you would like to know more or buy a pig (about $80), then please contact us.
